Definitely need to return to my roots. Planning to start to submit new illustrations by the end of summer. Crossing my fingers. For now enjoy a few Gundam Model Kits that I put together so far this year.

I made the stupid mistake of painting my Female ShinkenRed custom figure (which you see in my gallery) with enamel paint. Not only that, I oversprayed and made the paint job super sticky. So when you touch it the paint sticks to your fingers. So I decided to start over. I removed the paint with lacquer thinner and painted with acrylic. It didn't take me too long since acrylic dries quicker. I was also able to give the figure a much more glossy finish which I'm much more happy with. Most importantly the paint job is smooth. I don't have to worry about dust sticking to it or paint rubbing off.

I've been working on adding my professional work into my gallery. It's definitely different in style from the normal comic style I like to do. Artists need to be diverse to be successful. Gotta pay the bills right?

I'm a very addicted Sentai fan. Sentai is basically Power Rangers but in its original non-Disney form in Japan. Shinkenger, 2009-2010 Sentai show is probably my favorite since Hurricanger. I love Samurais and Ninjas since they really rely on more martial art skill. Anyway, when Shinkenger first started we all thought ShikenRed (red ranger Shiba Takeru) was the real head of the Shiba Dynasty. 44 episodes later into the series we find out he is a shadow warrior, a warrior acting as the head to protect the real head of the family. That blew my mind. The real ShinkenRed appears at the end of episode 44. Not only is it cool to have a female red ranger but she can kick some serious ass. So I'm looking at my Shinkenger toys one day and I'm thinking I could easily customize a female ShinkenRed. 3 days later I now have one. Take a look at my Model building gallery.

With the life being so busy, its hard to find time to do any art. Like many people I have a 9 to 5 job but I hit the gym 5 times a week for about 2 hours a day. When I get home I'm spent. I just wanna take it easy. These past couple of weeks, I adjusted my schedule around and found more time for myself. I was able to pick up a pencil and start drawing again. Despite having a sore hand and stiff neck, it felt great to draw again. I haven't been serious about producing art for a year which is bad for a guy who graduated with a degree in illustration. Most of my daily routine is graphic and production stuff done in the digital medium. I'd much rather pick up a pencil and work. So with candle burning inside again, my weekly goal is to produce something portfolio worthy. I've dropped a few things I started this week into my gallery to get the ball rolling.
